The fabric makes all the difference. Sometimes you need a fabric that is very thin but not an open weave; a little bit see-through but not transparent fully, very lightweight but not as light as a net. If this sounds tough, you will be happy to know that in the fabric world you have a lot of choices, whatever the requirement.

Silk Georgette is a very thin, free flowing, soft, loosely woven fabric made of silk yarns/ synthetic yarns. The fabric has a beautiful drape which makes it a designer favourite. It is very similar to chiffon but not as smooth as chiffon. The sandy texture is its most distinctive characteristic, other than its drape. One other difference between chiffon and georgette is that georgette is more opaque than chiffon but just as drapey. Silk Georgette is a beautiful silk fabric.

Can it be turned into a tallit?

I know this answer is probably too late for OP, but in case anyone else wonders--these shawls are made of a very SHEER silk chiffon--you might consider Dana Xu's wool shawls instead which are made from a lightweight wool that drapes very nicely. It is also a very LARGE scarf--check the dimensions and illustrations to see if this is even a size you would want. As for the "fringe", tzitzits can be purchased separately, or even handmade if you are particularly patient and good at knotting.

I don't think so. This scarf is very long, very wide and the fabric is light weight.. Hope this helps!

Is the fabric transparent and slippery?

No the scarf is not slippery or transparent. The scarf is extremely beautiful. I have just about every color. I own many scarves and these bu far are my favorite.

The silk isn’t slick if that’s what you are asking. It’s very lightweight but is not transparent. It’s a perfect weight for warm weather and tropical climates. I’ve bought 4 or 5 now both for myself and to give as gifts.

The silk scarves are definitely transparent, but not "slippery". They are soft, lightweight, and drapes beautifully.

It is transparent if you hold it up to the light. It is more like chiffon fabric only softer and stronger. It is not slippery like satin. I received a very light yellow print and you can see dark colors underneath.
