The scarves in the Dana Silk collection are made on a lightweight silk satin 10. The colours on silk satin are lustrous and appear vibrant and intense. This silk allows the printer to achieve a very sharp picture and texture. Our silk of choice, boasts bright, spirited, energetic, lively and vigorous colours , and the texture and sheen is exquisite. It has a glossy shine that shimmers on the flat smooth silk surface. Silk satin weave is lightweight making each scarf fall and drape with grace and elegance.

To talk now about the types of silk used in luxury silk scarf designs- silk twill and silk satin mainly. Hérmes scarves are made in silk twill weave, which can be identified by the diagonal weave lines that appear on the surface of the silk , which is a heavier weight thicker silk. This differs greatly from the silk satin 10 which we use in our designs, as it is flat and does not have a weave line. Twill gives a very sculptural structured feel to your scarf. It will hold its form, giving a sharp and crisp knot or tie. Silk twill is an elegant choice but gives a more muted silvery powdery effect to the scarf.
